👉 donate to charities / local community groupsÂ
there is no doubt that books in op shops can be big sellers but I've come across so many good books that have been tucked away on the shelves, dirty, neglected and unreadable ðŸ˜
before you donate to a store, ask if any local community groups might be interested in taking them to be resold. some groups even organise book fairs. -
👉 sell them and make some cash
if your books are in good condition, list them online (eg. eBay, Marketplace etc). speaking from experience here... people (me/we) love buying secondhand books.
-
👉  donate to us
we accept donated books too - whether it's your ex-blind date/s or a bunch of books you don't want any more, we will happily take them off your hands.
for every donated book sold, we donate a minimum of $5 per book to our chosen charity. we are a little picky with what we stock for our blind dates but we may be able to take on more books for other purposes in the near future. get in touch with us here if you'd like to donate. -
👉 regift to friends / familyÂ
sounds obvious, right? why not make your own 'blind date with a book' and gift it to a special someone!Â
-
👉 have kids books?Â
donate them to 123Read2Me, an awesome organisation empowering disadvantaged kids to succeed with free books. they are south-east melbourne based. if you're not local, ask your community or school library if they accept donations.
-
👉 get craftyÂ
with books that aren't rehomeable. we use old books for scrapbooking / wrap for our blind dates.
and if you have any other suggestions, let us know so we can add it to our list!
